  • Fun. We cultivate love for dance in each of our classes every day, and look forward to sharing the joy of the art form with our students! Our June themed showcases in our theater right on the premises offer students opportunities to show off what they've learned in the studio, and we also offer more exciting events throughout the year including summer programs and special parties.

  • Family. Each MYB Kid is a special part of our dance community. Our caring and knowledgeable staff are passionate about making MYB Kids your home for dance.

  • Focus. Every child is unique. We create personalized learning trajectories for each student and work as a team to find the best way for your child to learn and grow on their dance journey.

The email address(es) listed in your parent portal must be working and checked often.

MYB Kids can be reached at: a.faust@manhattanyouthballet.org

Class Cancellations

Individual Class Cancellations

MYB Kids may have to cancel individual classes due to low enrollment. In the instance of a low enrollment cancellation, we will transfer enrolled students into another scheduled MYB Kids class, which may or may not occur on a different day and/or at a different time.

Inclement Weather/School Closings:

Manhattan Youth Ballet will email any school closings at least 2 hours prior to the start of classes. MYB generally bases these decisions on the NYC Department of Education school closures.

Refunds will not be issued for missed classes. Make-up classes can be arranged in any age-appropriate class, if space permits.

Conduct and Etiquette

Children are the responsibility of the parent/caregiver before and after class. Behavior must be monitored, volume must be kept at a reasonable level and all hallways, doorways, staircases and corridors must be kept clear.

Children must be dropped off and picked up from class on time. If an emergency arises that prevents prompt pick up, please contact the front desk immediately at 212-787-1178.

Eating and drinking in the studios, theater, and dressing rooms is prohibited with the exception of bottled water. Gum chewing is not allowed.

Students and parents are responsible for cleaning up after all classes prior to leaving the space and must clean up after themselves in all areas of Manhattan Movement & Arts Center (lobby, hallways, studios, dressing rooms, bathrooms, etc.).

All students and adults are expected to behave with respect and consideration for all faculty, staff, studio employees, parents/guardians, visitors, and other students at all times. Bullying, including cyberbullying, or any kind of physical or verbal abuse will not be tolerated.

All public areas of Manhattan Movement & Arts Center (lobby, hallways, café, etc.) should be kept clear of personal belongings and students should refrain from stretching, playing or congregating in these areas. Not only is it disrespectful to others, it is a fire hazard.

Parents/Caregivers are allowed to remain in the building while their children are in class, but must wait in the lobby during class time. Congregating near the studio door/entrance is not allowed.

Strollers are to be parked in the vestibule. Strollers are not allowed in the lobby, hallways, studios, dressing rooms or restrooms.

Children are NOT to be dressed/changed in the lobby or any other common area. Changing areas and restrooms are made available for this purpose.

Students and parents/caregivers are not allowed in the studios outside of class times and/or without an MYB teacher/staff member present.

While Manhattan Movement & Arts Center and Studio Maestro are the home studios of Manhattan Youth Ballet, both spaces are used for various events, rentals, classes, etc. throughout the year. All students must obey all instructions given by, and act with respect for ALL faculty, staff, and studio employees at both spaces.

Attendance

Consistent and punctual attendance is essential for growth, stability and confidence. Please make every effort to attend all classes and arrive on time.

Should a student have a planned absence due to a school commitment, trip/vacation, or other scheduled event, or is ill or injured, please inform MYB Kids staff via email.

Should a student miss a class, a make-up class can be arranged in any other age-appropriate class if space permits.

Make up Policy

There is a limit of 2 make-ups per child per semester.

Make-ups must be scheduled by emailing at least 48 hours before class.

Make-up space is based upon availability.

Make-ups are not allowed during the 2 weeks leading up to showcase.

Make-ups must be completed within the same semester as the absence.

Withdrawal and Dismissal

Withdrawal due to Injury or Illness

Should a student become unable to attend class due to a long-term injury or illness, tuition will be prorated for the time of the student's attendance and a refund will be issued or the payment plan will be canceled. A signed doctor's note is required for a tuition refund or payment plan cancellation.

Withdrawal for personal reasons

Should a student choose to withdraw from class due to personal reasons before the first class takes place, a tuition refund will be issued. Registration fees and processing fees will not be refunded.

Should a student choose to withdraw from class due to personal reasons after the first class takes place, tuition for the current month will still be charged. A prorated refund for the remainder of the term will be issued, less a $50 cancellation fee per class enrolled.

Notice of intent to withdraw must be submitted in writing. If no written notice is provided, the full tuition amount will be charged and no refund will be issued.

Dismissal

MYB Kids may have to dismiss children from class due to behavioral or other problems that preclude such children from safely participating in the program and/or with others in the program. No refund will be issued if such a circumstance arises.

Other Policies

MYB reserves the right to change schedules, teachers and studios at any time throughout the year if necessary.

Guests, including parents/guardians and family members, are not allowed inside the studios to observe during classes unless it is during scheduled Observation Weeks.
